Aptera taking deposits for their Electric Car (California only)

by Hilary on December 5th, 2007

Well, bummer. With production of the Aptera coming by year’s end, the company has announced they are taking deposits … but only if you live in California.

It’ll be $500 to reserve your car. They come in one color - white - which two variations: an all-electric model that gets roughly 120 miles per charge ($26,900), or the electric-gas hybrid that gets 330 mpg ($29,900). Still much improved over a car like the Prius. Seats two up front with room for a child in back, plus storage room for groceries, etc.

Here’s what’s included, from the website

  • Driver and passenger side Airbags
  • Energy absorbing and impact deflecting passenger Safety Cell
  • Advanced drive computer with GPS navigation, CD/MP3/DVD player, XM satellite radio, Large View Rear Camera, and complete vehicle diagnostic system
  • “Eyes Forward” vision system with 180 degree rear sight picture displayed in the driver’s field of view to enhance situational awareness
  • LED interior and exterior lighting for maximum energy efficiency
  • Solar assisted Climate Control System so you always enter a comfortable Aptera that is never too hot or cold
  • And an RFID(Radio Frequency ID) key fob so you never have to pull out your keys to enter or start your Aptera. The key fob simply remains in your pocket or purse.
  • POSTED IN: Aptera, commuter cars, compact cars

Electric car’s mileage is expressed in ELECTRICITY, NOT MPG, which is totally meaningless except to the frauds who are
selling you half the story - the electricity. The other half of EV mileage is cost per mile for the batteries, which can easily exceed 15 cents per mile. Why not tell the truth, you biased [expletive] ?

Hmm … the only time mpg were mentioned in this post was in regards to the electric-GAS hybrid.

Aptera has released an update on it’s upcoming 300 Mpg car. This car really approaches transportation from a very different vantage than does the rest of the auto industry. This car is slated to sell for $30,000 USD, and offers room for two. Here is a brief overview on the update …
