Lakewood Ranch, an environmentally-designed Sarasota, Fla. community embraced widespread use of the electric car by dedicating its intention to become a GEM-(Global Electric Motorcars) friendly community. GEM leads world manufacturers in production of neighborhood electric vehicles, smaller-sized cars, many times without doors, that run on battery power.
